Mainly because the 763 has angled lie flats up front and slightly upgraded food service. Also, given the departure time for the LAX-OGG morning flight, coming from the east makes it a difficult connect whereas DFW at Noon is pretty much a slam dunk from the east or midwest. The 763 is a nice ride but if you can get to LAX and save the shekels, do it. The flight from LAX is 3 hours shorter. We sometimes fly to LAX late in the day, stay the night, then transit OGG. Breaks up the time change big time.
