Have been doing (1) but missing out on double miles on my AA credit card.... Also prefer AA.com tickets in case of irrops
I did 2 and they couldn't replicate and they told me that I'm using multi-city functionality the wrong way and that AA.com prices tickets wrong if layover in layover city is less than 4 hours. I know for fact that is not true as have booked MRs with short layovers on aa.com
