AAA, no. Enough rates are out there, many not available to the public, that AAA often isn't anywhere near the lowest rate. Also, AAA is usually the same the AARP rate, and from the demographics of the occupants I've seen at some places I suspect MOST people are on some sort of discounted rate.
Priceline, sometimes. I'm down to 1-2 Priceline nights a year and I consider the possibility of getting a "Priceline room" when deciding whether to use it and how much to bid.
I agree 100%. I often use the Hilton MVP rate, which is generally better than AAA or AARP. I've even had FD clerks comment on the great rate, but I've never had any reason to believe that I've been given inferior rooms because of it.
