Stayed three nights in a Bay room earlier this week. A quick summary:

Positives:
+ Generally excellent service with good attention to detail
+ Very good to excellent food
+ Very stylish pool area
+ Commanding 180 degree views


Negatives:
- Villa construction still going on (this, of course is temporary)
- A somewhat underwhelming room (mind you, the higher categories are likely to better)
- Flaky and unstable TV system
- The Italian restaurant offered excellent food, but the decor of the restaurant is rather like from a cheapish cafeteria in the Rimini.
- Some very questionable ergonomics (wonky shower controls, bath amenities placed unreachably, far too high tables/low seats in the Italian restaurant, in-room chairs uncomfortable)
- Disappointing wine list

Imponderables:
- Architecture. The exterior design is quite stark and slightly veers towards brutalist architecture. Especially the steel mesh around the building is an acquired taste.
- Very inconsistent interior design. Public spaces are in stark and m inimalistic, rooms from a different world, furniture and cutlery rather like from Crate & Barrel's summer cottage collection.
- The pool area worked nicely but there were very few guests. It might not be quite so good with higher occupancy.

We had a very good rate (about 220 euro per night (all in) with breakfast). For this rate Point Yamu was rather a good value but the place is too inconsistent and rough around the edges to really shine in the high-end luxury category yet.
