This is not correct. Under IATA resolution 302 the allowance of the most significant carrier ("MSC") applies to the whole journey.

In this case the MSC is BA because they operate the first sector to cross a traffic conference zone boundary (LHR-HKG).

Assuming that the OP is travelling on one ticket, the e-ticket mask visible in GDS should state BA's allowance on all sectors.
