Mom Slapping Baby on Plane-WWYD?
First, I am not a mother. I don't know how frustrating it might be to travel with children. However, I was really upset by a mom on a flight this weekend. The child, about 12-14 months I am guessing, was obviously a little sick, coughing and runny nose, etc. During takeoff she cried then quieted down soon after. Upon descent the child started crying again. I heard 2 loud pops (they were seated directly behind me) and the child started really wailing! another minute or so a few more loud slaps and more wailing. I stood up and turned around and informed her that the child was probably in pain due to the descent, especially if she was sick. She told me to mind my own business that she was the mother and she would deal with her child the was she thought best. I heard another lady in the seat across saying what a sad situation for the child but no one else said or did anything. I decided that I would probably just make it worse on the baby by continuing so just dropped it, but I felt terrible. How should something like this be handled? Or is it best to just keep your thoughts to yourself in a situation like this?
