For daily spend, yes - but with a US presence I would think it would be pretty easy to meet the typical $1000-$3000 spend by routing purchases through the US. For example, buying a plane ticket can easily be processed by a phone call to the airlines US call center, or a US based travel agent.

First you do need to figure out which bonuses you want, and be sure to factor in the cost, in both time and money, of getting the spend done in US based transactions - if there is a fee.
