"One immigration officer suggested that John go to the U.S. Embassy in London, get a visa and return to the U.S. John's reply saddens me. He said, "My sister loves your country. I will never set foot in it again."

-I dated a woman who works at the US Embassy in London. They are so strict about issuing visas and the problem is most Americans have no idea how strict our country is in issuing visas. I wonder what the ratio is of a ??/10 who apply for a visa actually receive it. And it is a pain, long interviews, sometimes very personal and intrusive.

You have to have enough to want to come back to in your home country before they will even consider.

Anyway, I was disgusted(gee, can ya tell? ) by this story and I am so sorry.
Imagine if an HM Immigration officer did this to one of our people, the US would b*tich up a storm.
