What was with the "Precheck is not open today" I ran into at PHL this afternoon? Both B and C Terminal checkpoints.

I went through at B. Self directed to WTMD where Precheck would normally funnel to (on the far left). Not sure if all lanes were WTMD only. Precheck pax (sticker on BP) were allowed to keep shoes and belts on, were required to remove laptops, and no mention of removing the freedom baggie.

Security only took 10 minutes, even with mixing all pax together. Is this typical on a Sunday or was it some sort of TSA tomfoolery (understaffed or testing a new security configuration)?
