You are correct. I spoke with a DL airport ticket agent 5 mins ago and DL did not implement this change. The agent was not at her computer, so she could not tell if DL interlines luggage with Emirates. If they do, all OP needs to do is present both tickets at DL check in and the bags would go to the final destination.

Perhaps someone could check if DL interlines baggage with Emirates. That is the only question now.
