As a diamond, if it were an upgrade I really wanted, I would press for it and show the front-desk agent the room types available on my phone... if they didn't budge, I too would ask for a front-desk manager and use the same tactic. I'd gauge my response based on his but I personally likely wouldn't walk on that reservation, but would consider booking elsewhere next time around.
