Unfortunately the costs of doing this become prohibitively expensive and can be a huge false economy.

The OP is already redeeming in Y at a mid-season fare. Absolutely shouldn't be encouraged to push more money to BA. There's the change fee, the offline fee and the potential for "taxes" to increase in the interim, too.

Looks like the Y redemption is 50k miles and £377. That's vs a cash fare of just under £700, so the 50k miles are saving you £320.

You're only getting 0.64p per avios, and that's before you tack change fees into the equation. You're going to go below the 0.6p valuation where you're better off using the Avios for hotels, and with a redemption you're waiving the ability to earn any miles back.
