Hi everyone-
I am new to FlyerTalk, just joined a couple days ago. I am completely bummed I missed out on this whole Latin Pass phenomenon because I just wasn't in the know.
I wanted to just thank everybody for entertaining me immensely for the last 2 1/2 hours it took me to get through this entire string. It was better than reading a novel. I loved all your stories and I laughed, cried (well, not really) and lived vicariously through your experiences. I feel as if I stood in the lines, ate the steaks, smelled the Caracas stench, enjoyed Quito, drank the beers, saw the weary fellow FlyerTalkers and enjoyed the disbelief of all airline employees you encountered.
Just wanted to say thanks. I always knew I had no desire to go to Columbia and you all confirmed it. However, I would never in my life have ever desired to go to Ecuador and now I'm dying to with all this enthusiasm for Quito. And all your stories about the good service on the planes made me less scared about venturing off the beaten path with "unknown" airlines.
Thanks to everyone.
PuddingGuy, Gator, Rhinochaser, NaturalSpringWater....I think we need to get a Sacramento area based Flyertalk gang together sometime. It's nice to finally meet people more insanely addicted to miles than me. My co-workers think I'm a wacko, and I've done maybe 1/100th of what you've all done in the name of miles...
