I'm not saying you're right or wrong but somehow US has gotten most of their FA's to do PDB so it is definitely possible. It seems much more consistent on US than AA from reports I read and my own experience at US, plus the full bar option is nice regardless.
On a flight earlier this week a FA pointed out a new barrier to PDBs on the reconfigured 737-800. When row 7 was re-installed, the coat hangers behind row 6 were eliminated. That means that a FA can no longer stand at the divider between first and main cabin and collect at least some of the coats as passengers board.
The consequence is that the first priority after the aisles clear is taking coats from 16 passengers--a time-consuming process in winter when pax often have two coats. All coats now go into the closet at the entry.
