Um, what? Either you're trolling or wildly misinformed about the DM program. There are no free international upgrades except op-ups when coach is oversold. Envoy is sometimes available for $500-1000 at check-in.
Many of the (otherwise lightly loaded) international flights during this time of year are indeed full or nearly full of paid J.
