Forever. Of course, with some receipts (mostly cash register receipts) the ink will fade in time. In fact, if I have a store receipt that I need for warranty purposes, I make copy of the receipt because it only takes about a year of two for the ink to fade. Receipts from most cash registers only last a couple years on average.
