Two of my faves there have been the Suriwongse and the Pornping, both sorta near the night bazaar. Both are independents that used to be at the top of the market but got elbowed out, making 'em fading 2.5 to 3-stars where my price target will be around $30. I think that's the sweet spot and try to hit $20-30 with that in other parts of Isaan as well (the Pannarai in Udon Thani being a splurge around $41, but with a good breakfast).

Of course there are guesthouses around $10 and other options with good value below that price, but you have to give a little on amenities or location.
