Yes, any purchase (except cash advance) would work
and buying gift cards (any of them, Cdn Tire, Costco, Sobeys, Esso, Petro, Shell, etc...) is an easy way to meet the minimum spending requirement
Do NOT buy prepaid VISA/MC cards, they have crazy fees
