If you do OLCI and confirmed that you will be added to airport standby list for an upgrade, is there any chance the upgrade will process before gate agent takes over flight. I see info in this thread that implies above then contradicts later...
The airport list is totally independent, and is only processed manually. However, automatic processing still occurs during that time, and whether you are on the airport list or not has no bearing on it clearing. As an example, it is quite common to be cleared for regular EP comp upgrades via automated process up to 3 hours before departure.

The contradictory info I'm assuming is related to miles+copay/SWU which is a bit more complicated, but it is possible for it to clear inside 24 hours. There were improvements a little over a year ago to how that works and the logic behind it.
