If you do OLCI and confirmed that you will be added to airport standby list for an upgrade, is there any chance the upgrade will process before gate agent takes over flight. More refined: do upgrades happen after OLCI/23hr 59 mins before flight automatically or are they all held in Airport Standly list/PALL and no auto processing happens ever until agent starts working the flight?

I see info in this thread that implies above then contradicts later...
It depends on the route. I can't remember the specifics offhand, but when you are wait-listed for an upgrade using miles or VIPs, that processing stops at a certain time before departure, which might be right around OLCI start. Everything that wasn't cleared off of the waitlist would be then processed at the gate via the PALL list.

For sticker upgrade eligible routes (i.e. North America, Central America and Caribbean), then processing could happen inside of OLCI as the automation that processes those upgrades could happen as close as 4 hours before departure as the automated system that processes those upgrades is separate from how miles or VIPs are waitlisted.

I know these timelines have been discussed previously on travelingbetter.com, but maybe JonNYC can help refresh our memory?
