My view is that BA could use a few more A380s and using them to upsize the Hi-J 747-400 fleet always seemed the natural evolution to me. India is a good one as the biggest issue with the A380 for BA is the 300 Y seats which often go begging. India has demand across all classes so it's one that would potentially work. I also think that BA knows Airbus's order book is stuffed and that it is 100% reliant on EK which is a very poor position. Lots of slots for Kingfisher, Virgin and the like who are never going to take them - either there are deals to be done with the A380 or Airbus has already written the whole thing off, even if not yet publicly. For sure the A380-900 will never get built. The saving of the A380 would be if it were possible to use 2 instead of 4 engines but that's a massive re-engineering task and engines that powerful don't exist.....
