Also, I like the idea of going TK in J class, but how do you search specifically for TK flights? The online Aeroplan engine seems to always prefer to offer me flights to and from IST on AC metal. I saw TK option once, but most days that option doesn't show up?

For open-jaw, are you using the multi-city option?
Honestly, you could book YVR-YUL-IST-YUL-YVR and simply skip the last YUL-YVR segment if you're done at YUL

Look for non-stop flights YUL/YYZ-IST over 11 days or the entire month
YYZ-IST: You can't filter only TK, but since only AC/TK fly non-stop it's easy to spot TK18
You only use Aeroplan.com as last step to confirm real availability & booking
