I thought I knew this system.....but I'm curiously confused about a change I just made. Maybe it is just too early in the morning for my brain to wrap around this.

Yesterday purchased 2 tickets with points
20,642 points - cost of ticket if paid cash $340
40,651 points - cost of ticket if paid cash $460
Total 61,293 points which would have cost $800

I changed this morning to
2 tickets 12,111 each points - cost of ticket if paid cash $201
Total 24,222 points which would have cost $402

About a 60% savings in points - but only a 50% savings in cash.
