Have read tons, but I'm still unsure of how to determine if they are worth it

Hi All,

I'm new to all of this, but have spent a few weeks researching. My goal is to help defray travel costs for my family. There are 4 of us and we probably spend at least 15k/yr on flights alone. We live overseas, so I don't know if that matters much. Then on top of that we probably spend maybe $1,500 in hotels. I would like to use a card that would help defray some of the costs and create upgrade opportunities for those times when me or my husband are flying on our own.

We usually fly to the US at least once/yr. We would like to fly to Asia (Japan, Singapore, China, Malaysia); Europe (Portugal, Italy, Ireland, Cyprus, Greece, Scandinavia); Maldives, South Africa and Australia for vacations in the next few years.

Airlines we prefer are Etihad, Emirates, Qatar, Cathy Pacific, Singapore, British Air, Lufthansa. I tend to avoid US carriers just because their planes aren't as nice.

My credit score is in the 710-740 range. We probably regularly spend at least $8k/mo on the credit card and pay it off every month. Should we try for some cards or is it not worth it? Any suggestions would be amazing!
