It's worth checking out if you've never been to HKG before. Everything is fast and efficient. The only hiccup might be the immigration lines which can back up depending on the time of day.
It would be a long walk from the Kowloon station to the star ferry, although you could use the free shuttle bus to one of the hotels, such as the Peninsula.
