The Disadvantage of the SQ lounge in SYD is sometimes if you go too early before the UA flight there is no food because the SQ flight has just departed. so while its empty there is basically no food compared to the NZ lounge. When they do finally bring out food its basically 30 mins to boarding. The SQ lounge generally has the same food every time i've visited (some kind of spicy beef/chicken dish and indian rice along with the usual cold dishes). in MEL the UA club has alright food but a small selection/availability and is usually crowded. use the NZ lounge instead as its bigger and has more food options. I've tried the SQ lounge before in MEL but its usually either too full for non-SQ pax or it has no food and is closing.

On a side note i flew UA99 MEL-LAX. For the most part pretty good except that UA operates out of gate 20 in MEL, which is the furthest gate away in the terminal and basically a 10 min walk from the lounges. Kind of annoying, but whatever. Also the flight docks at TBIT so if you have connecting flights at LAX, enjoy the 15 minute walk to T7. It blows.
