Stop flying and buying services from United, period. That is the only way they will notice.
I agree, but I don't think that as long as fuel prices stay low, that even further customer losses will cause them to change course. This quarter will be interesting, they just (3Q) for the first time posted ok numbers, numbers that did not show any further deterioration vs AAL and DAL, and if they go back to yet further deterioration in yield vs. AAL and DAL in 4Q that we have seen the last two years, it will be interesting to see how the markets respond.

The real problem thought is that as UAL looses HVFers and Elites, if there is a sudden shock to demand (Ebola is not it, but something like SARs was) or a major spike in Oil, then they can find themselves with a sudden sharp drop in demand and the steady demand from elites will not be a strong. Certainly its Elites allowed UAL to say afloat for years.

I think that UAL is making money not because the plan is good (they have badly underperformed) but because its almost impossible not to make money right now.

and P.S. So far not a peep from UAL about "where did the $50-60K/year in spending you used to give us" go....
