I share the OP's dismay at what's happened to UA, but (A) the MP charges are the least of it, really; (B) the protest is about two and a half years late; and (C) it won't have any effect.
People who hate certain oil companies try to stage buy-no-gas days; it simply drives more business to adjacent days. People who hate Christmas consumerism try to put on buy-nothing days around Black Friday; all you get is a bigger logjam at FedEx on December 24.
United knows full well what it's doing to its loyal customer base and has made a strategic decision to double down. It expects small protests like this; they're already factored into the big plan, no doubt.

Bingo. The only protest that matters is long-term behavioral change, not Fly-Free Thursdays or whatever. But this real protest has been under way since 2012, and it's only made UA management more determined to show the customer base who's boss.
If you want United to change, fly Delta.
