Until about a year ago there always seemed loads of 4 digit codes to enter to boost points, ie ones that would be say 5000 points on your next stay, stay x nights, get y000 points, platinum bonus ones etc.

There doesn't seem to be any decent ones in about a year or so now....and those I see on the Points thread in this forum don't seem to work anymore. I always seem to get the message "you are already registered for this promotion". But I am not already "registered" otherwise I would have seen the bonus points credited to my account.

I read somewhere that the promo points are now more targeted so if you haven't been targeted they won't work. But I never, ever get any e-mails with targeted promotions although clearly IHG have mny e-mail address as it is the one that all booking confirmations come to

So is this a general change by IHG....to reduce all these one off type promotions?
