It is not flying directly into FCO but realize AA has MIA-MXP service (I am on AA 207 MXP-MIA tomorrow). Depending on your itinerary in Italy (just Rome or are you considering Florence, Venice...) you might want to consider one or more legs into/out of MXP (Milan Malpensa).
