I wonder why in America we don't have low cost carriers serving these airports with more direct flights. It would seem a viable option even for business passengers if you don't have to connect.
Rest assure there is a LOT of data about flying from point A to point B and if any airline thought there were be money to be made from doing it then they would. The economics don't work on all cities, LCC or not.
