If that's the goal, I don't see how it would be hurt by allowing a guest who's Platinum/Gold to get a free breakfast (as defined by a free breakfast rate, as discussed above, or simply defined as a coupon for the bistro), but only for the guest in whose name the room is (not for anyone else). That would then bring more solo Marriott elites there, while not encouraging families, wouldn't it?
