Hertz has an "excessive miles" policy since a few years ago, mentioned in another thread. It is mentioned in the contract as, "Excessive mileage on a repeat basis may be cause for denial of your future renting privileges." Some longtime corporate renters suddenly found themselves on the Do Not Rent List.
I may be incorrect in my assumption. But I believe that applies to exceeding the mileage limit specified, when specified. Some rentals do come with a specified mileage limit for the rental.
I only know that I have not had a problem myself, and I have regularly put 3k-5k miles on low mileage SUVs over the past few years. I think the highest mileage SUV I was given had around 12k miles on it. Not a single problem and sometimes even free upgrades.
Location may also play a role. I generally rent out of Bradenton, FL.
