In my experiences (prior to being *G), producing an inbound J boarding pass will get you MLL access between your connecting Y flight. My last segment home is always in an all Y plane, and when connecting from transborder/oceanic J, I've never had an issue at YVR's domestic MLL.
Domestic lounges are accustomed to receiving arriving passengers. E50 and better have this privilege.
Non-status inbound J is unclear to me, but I suspect there's a better chance in the domestic lounge than at international or trans-border versions.
