I agree with many of your points, as they relate to DL and the Delta Connection.

However, there is light on the horizon. The B717 mainline metal is really coming online now, and with it CR9's are replacing the maintenance prone CR7's and the highly maintenance prone CRJ's. The downside is fewer flights from many cities, with seat availability being about the same.
