I can think of a lot of things that are revolting. Not getting a better deal on a first class seat than someone else isn't one of them
If United was selling upgrades to their "valued" loyal flyers for the same price they were selling them to nobodies, then I'd be less revoted.

I can see an argument for selling upgrades for cash, but at least with pmUA, they priced the upgrades at the 500-mile coupon cost and only let you do them with XF (R) space. If UA wants to play the upgrade shenanigans game, screwing elites out of upgrades, that's their option, but it is slimy and dishonest.

United is actually making it more 'valuable' to be a non-elite. You don't have to worry about PQD, PQM, etc. Upgrade as a GM for 1/5 the price of a 1K, ahead of them, who needs RPU or CPU?
