I have gone through BJS three times in the last 30 days and on each occasion I have been asked to remove my small folding umbrella from my carry on bag and open it fully. What's more, on each occasion the official at the X ray machine was very aggressive, which is unusual in my experience. I have carried a small umbrella in my hand baggage for years and have never been asked to even identify it before.......So maybe, as the article says, the Umbrella Revolution is indeed making everyone nervous !
