A 764 was flown to AUS as a charter today and I believe a couple are in the shop getting WiFi installed, so the 764 fleet is kinda short right now. Also today's ZRH - EWR flight which is normally operated with a 764 was operated by a 752 today.
Thanks for this info Jose, it may explain a lot about what's going on here.
And yes, I happily flew the sCO 752 on this flight for years, operating as CO 18. From an E+ standpoint it's certainly comparable amenity and comfort-wise to the 764 except with 3 seats instead of 2, a real exit row, and smaller AVOD servers. I'm totally fine with flying it instead of the 764.
The jarring thing was the sudden last-minute swap out of what seems like a considerably smaller plane for what had been a larger plane, whose seats really don't correspond, and the inconsistent/unhelpful info on the website and on the phone. I could do without the stress of not knowing where I'm actually going to be sitting when I board tomorrow!
And mhreg, I just got that call you said might come from the advance overbooking team, which further bolsters the idea that this will be a 752 tomorrow, not a 764. I had to decline for work reasons.
Thanks everyone for your help!
