It is a matter of consistency. If SQ can serve 2 full meals on flight of similar length to Europe and New Zealand, I don't see why the "special treatment" with flights to South Africa? And this is on a premium airline supposedly renowned and prides itself for its inflight meals and service, even in economy class.
