Just flew YVR-US today and was surprised that the AS GA checked everyone's passport as they boarded. Since YVR has US pre-clearance, I don't understand the need. Everyone has already gone through US immigration and customs, so it's not like anyone is going to get sent back from the US for not having the required documentation.

The GA didn't know why - just said those were the rules.
