This is the fare breakdown for an upcoming flight AKL-SYD return, that I have gifted to my parents as an early Christmas present, and paid for with my Airpoints Dollars:

Fare: $295.20 (Paid with Airpoints Dollars)
Taxes, surcharges, government and airport costs: $171.80, broken down as:
-> AU (Australia Passenger Movement Charge): $61.60
-> IA (Auckland International Airport - Levy): $13.48
-> KK (New Zealand - Tax): $35.92
-> WY (Australia Passenger Service Charge): $60.80
GST: $0.00
Total: $467.00

So roughly 2/3rd is the actual airfare charged by AirNZ, and 1/3rd is government taxes/fees.

And from the above breakdown, seems like the Aussies are to blame - $120+ is charged by them!
