If you are sitting in J, then you are in group 1 regardless of status.
I'm not sure whether you belong to group 1 or 2 when you are sitting in E+ though...it could be the case you were sitting in E+ and therefore had boarding group 1 on your BP.
Nope with UA as a SE and *G I am always in group 1 even if sitting in the last few rows of economy

I hope AC goes with the following zones and actually enforces them.

Preboarding - those with disability, children under 5
Priority Boarding - first class and SE
Zone 1 - all elites 50k/75k, *G
Zone 2 - elites 25/35k, *S, credit card?
Zone 3 - based on seating
