I just checked in and they asked for volunteers for ATL-DXB. I tried to enter $1k as I know that is the typical VDB Voucher given for International flights but the system said the maximum allowed is $800 for bidding.

Kinda weird....so I didn't put anything at all.

Just called in.....DM line told me it is oversold by 14....and there is 1 seat left in BE.

Pardon my ignorance but how does this process work - you were offered to volunteer off the flight & didn't take it, hoping for OpUp? Or at that point were they just asking if you might be willing to be bumped later and for what price? Now it looks like that's not going to happen because seats are open. Is it that others got, and took, that same volunteer offer on check in (and possibly offered a lower $ amount) & they got enough seats for the overage?

Or does the process go to the airport? Just curious if some folks w flexible plans might have taken a lower dollar amount in advance to be bumped & be re-booked, of course w no-show pax & misconnects factored in.
