Yup. An interesting aberration that's recently popped up is that when I flew my brother (A3*G) on the same PNR, he had boarding group 1, whereas I had boarding group 2 prior to the upgrade clearing at the gate. Another family member with UA50k said the same thing happened.
...And he guested me into the UC. I didn't hear the end of it for days, even though I'm the one who got us upgraded
