Yesterday I received a snailmail offer from Barclays: earn a 15k bonus for paying the annual fee at renewal and spending $500 in each of 3 months (Nov-Dec-Jan). I'm curious what my chances are of improving the offer by calling when the AF hits. E.g., could I get the fee waived and still keep the 15k challenge?
My wife had the same offer through snail mail. We called in anyways because we didn't want to pay the AF. She got a 10K miles/$3K offer in addition to annual fee waiver so it seems like we came out ahead in my mind. Since we're spending $3K to get the 10K, we'll see if the original 15K challenge is still in effect (don't expect it to be since our AF was waived).
