He has booked AMS-MAD-SCL to travel in December 27th. He is based in LON so he needs a positioning flight to AMS.

What do people think about the suitability of a 2 hour transfer window within AMS? Assuming the bags are checked through to SCL from LHR or LCY.

I know that he will need to go through passport control as he is going to a Schengen Country so this will make even tighter to connect.

He is currently eyeing up booking the first BA flight out of LCY which arrives at 10am in AMS.

If the bags are not interlined then I presume there will not enough time to retrieve and check in the bags again?

Any thoughts and opinions are welcome. Worst case scenario would be to travel the night before to AMS.

If bags can be checked through from LON 2 hours is more than enough time @ AMS - IF the LON-AMS flight is on time. He will have time for a coffee and breakfast at AMS.
If bags cannot be checked through, it is a doable connection, he will most likely be OK but he needs to move as fast as he can.
The big risk is that his flight from LON is delayed (December! Weather!) so if this itinerary is on two unrelated tickets he won't be protected for the AMS-MAD-SCL flights.
