I have been told by some flight crews that they are leery of food, even if it appears to be commercially packaged. I always hand out $5 or $10 Starbucks gift cards - there is a SB in practically every airport, and they love them.
It's hard to blame them for being leery of food from a complete stranger particularly something that looked homemade. The best course would be to say thank-you and toss it after the giver is out of eyesight.
