An update from my stay here at the end of September- chose Andaz over Pulitzer since P&C opened up for the second night - so cost was just about equivalent. Hey Peter, both times I've stayed there, I've taken bus 197, which like the train runs every 15 minutes. Take it to Leidesplein. From there it is less than 10 minutes walk to the hotel. Where you get off the bus, walk straight ahead and in about 4 minutes, you will cross over a canal, which is Prinsengracht. Turn left after crossing the canal, then walk for about 2 1/2 blocks to the hotel.
Bus fare is E5 but it'll work out to much less if you get it combined with a local transit cash card (somewhat of a pain to get) or a daily bus ticket.
