I confirm. The checking of access rights happens only when there are many passengers, e.g. early Monday morning or on vacation weekends.
To be honest, I'd prefer if they did it all the time. And be it with electronic scanners. They should be generous - i.e. let though all *G irrespective of which class they are flying in - but not let in everybody. Many people in Zurich are "well behaved" and stick to the line where they should be, but then some people go in the wrong line inadvertedly, and also an airport is a place where people from many cultures meet.
