As I said in my previous post, the Virgin Holiday Frequent Virgin scheme, is completely different to the Virgin Atlantic Flying Club and package trips are a whole different ball game to the science of maximising frequent flier miles / points .

I completely disagree with that, but would be interested in your rationale for saying it. I accept that the whole system isn't the simplest to understand, and some routes / classes are sometimes difficult to get reward seats for, but there are a number of people on this board who can offer advice as to the best way to use the points your Mother has accrued.
